I just finished reading the national bestseller "The World is Flat" by Thomas L. Friedman. It was the book I mentioned in my GMAT essay although at the time I had only read about 20 pages of it. I thought it was a fascinating book and a hint about what to expect in the next 20 years or so as the world is globalized. An updated and expanded version was just published and Georgia Tech is mentioned:

Friedman writes:
...so my advice to them [Friedman's daughters] in this flat world is very brief and very blunt: "Girls, when I was growing up, my parents used to say to me, 'Tom, finish your dinner - people in China and India are starving.' My advice to you is: "Girls, finish your homework - people in China and India are starving for your jobs."
